Domaine Henri Rebourseau
Gevrey-Chambertin

They are among the quiet aristocrats of the Côte de Nuits: Domaine Henri Rebourseau has been cultivating some of Burgundy's finest vineyards since 1833 – today run by two brothers with a modern approach.
Bénigne and Louis de Surrel, descendants of the founders, have managed the estate since 2017 and spearheaded the conversion to biodynamic farming. Their Grand Crus – Clos de Bèze, Chambertin, and Charmes – are crafted with respect for tradition: whole clusters, gentle extraction, and aging in judicious new oak.
Since 2018, the Bonygues family has been the majority owner of the estate. Their substantial investment has allowed the winery and vineyards to be modernized.
Bettane+Desseauve praises the wines' "aristocratic seriousness," while William Kelley (The Wine Advocate) emphasizes the stylistic realignment: more precise, refined, and less rustic than before.
“We are guardians, not owners. The vineyards belong to the land, not to us.” – Louis de Surrel (Wine Spectator, 2020)
Henri Rebourseau proves how to dust off big names – with poise, humility, and astonishing clarity.
