What exactly is the Wine Agency? What does it have to do with the restaurant? What is our focus? And who are our customers?


FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS...


The Fux Restaurant has been around since 1998, and the Fux Wine Agency almost as long. Over time, wine evolved from a hobbyhorse to a passion, and knowledge of it to an expertise. While everyone else was lying on the beach during the summer season reading crime novels, Peter Strolz was lifting 5kg of Broadbent's Wine Encyclopedia into the sun. Whatever he found exciting while reading, he tried at tastings. Over time, his preferences shifted from Austria to Italy, touching on the New World, and the deeper Peter Strolz's relationship with oenology became, the clearer his personal realization became: if it was to be good, it had to be France.


"The quality of Burgundy wines, such as Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, is unique." And this distinction also applies to the second mainstay of the product range: Champagne. However, the wine agency does not work with large champagne factories, but exclusively with small wineries. "It's like comparing handmade bespoke leather shoes to flip-flops," says Peter Strolz:


Peter Strolz is the heart of the Fux Wine Agency. The premise for the wine trade is simple: He only sells what he himself enjoys. What may seem snobbish stems from a fundamentally honest attitude:


On wine tours to the small and special wineries in Burgundy and Champagne, he seeks out and discovers wine gems beyond the well-known names. These enrich the product range and bring variety to the wine glass and the cellar. All of our wine agency's wines are also offered in our restaurant.


Each wine is personally tasted and selected. Only if the quality is convincing does it make it into the range. Price-performance ratio must be right, but that doesn't mean you have to dig deep into your pockets for Burgundy wines and Champagne. You can certainly do that, no question, but the wine agency's list also includes wonderful everyday wines that won't hurt your wallet at all.


Handshake quality, a good dose of humor, and straightforward interaction make the wine agency's business relationships pleasant. And friendly. Both with customers and with winemaker partners.


"The people of Burgundy and Champagne are like us," Peter often says. "They don't talk much, but they have a handshake quality. They're down-to-earth characters. You have to earn their affection, but then work turns into trust and ultimately friendship. That's how I always wanted to work. I value personal relationships. I'm an analog type." It's therefore not surprising that most of the winemakers with whom Fux Weinagentur works are committed to organic farming – quite a few even with certification.


Fux Weinagentur is the general importer for Austria for the majority of its product range. It is delivered directly from the winery to the cellar and from there, carefully stored, to customers in Austria and elsewhere.


Peter Strolz knows every wine in the cellar: its character and its development potential. He knows which wine suits which people and which occasion. The focus of the Fux Wine Agency is not on selling, but on providing advice and finding the perfect pairing.


Our clients include restaurateurs and private individuals. Sommeliers' eyes light up when they get their hands on our price list.
